    Who is eligible to get home support during or after pregnancy?

    Every pregnancy is a special time, filled with anticipation and love but sometimes also health challenges.

    If your doctor prescribes rest, you may be entitled to household help under §38 SGB V, covered by your statutory health insurance. What matters most is a doctor’s certificate (Attest). We take care of the rest.

    You are eligible if:

    You need to rest for medical reasons

    Your doctor has prescribed bed rest or issued a work restriction

    You already care for children under 12 years of age or a child with a disability

    You face special challenges after birth (e.g. C-section, multiple birth)

    Examples of medical situations that may entitle you to household support

    These are common cases where a doctor may prescribe household help 

    Early contractions, shortened cervix, or cervical insufficiency

    Low amniotic fluid, gestational diabetes, or hyperemesis gravidarum (severe nausea and vomiting)

    Depressive episodes before or after childbirth

    C-section or other medically challenging deliveries

    Planned multiple birth (e.g. twins or triplets)

    Hospital stays, rehabilitation, or prescribed bed rest during pregnancy

    This is how you apply for a Home Helper with HalloJuni

    Talk to your doctor or gynecologist and request a prescription (Verordnung für eine Haushaltshilfe) under §38 SGB V.

    Important: the prescription must be fully completed, stamped, and include both the reason and the number of hours of household help required per week.

    How long do I get support?

    • During pregnancy: As long as there is a medical reason for needing help – this can mean weeks or even months

    • After giving birth: Normally 4 weeks; depending on the prescription and medical condition, it can also be longer

    • With children in the household: Extensions of up to 26 weeks are possible

    We provide individual advice for your situation, free of charge and confidential.

    Of course, our service also includes extension requests and support until cost coverage is approved by your health insurance.
